It started again in the late 1980’s and gained popularity in the 1990’s and is still going strong in the 2000’s. The Swing Revival came just over 40 years after the original craze gave way to Rock ‘n’ Roll. After the 50's it started to fade out of popularity, only occasionally popping up on occasion television shows, this was until the Swing Revival. S wing music still kept its popularity during the 50's, but was not as popular as the newer style of Rock 'n' Roll. Many people say that swing music officially started when Benny Goodman and his Band performed at the Palomar in Los Angeles in August, 1935. Swing is thought to have mainly been derived from Ragtime (a jazz style popular between 18), African American gospel, blues and a slight influence from European music. There are many types of Jazz and many of these styles have been the building bricks for what has created the traditional Swing sound. Swing music is often thought to have been invented much earlier than this. Swing music is a type of jazz that developed from the early 1930’s and reached its well known sound by about 1935.
